Become a UPSC mentor on Mented
Mentor UPSC and IAS aspirants online, part-time and from home: 20-minute one-to-one sessions for strategy, answer evaluation and interview practice, at hours you choose.
What mentoring on Mented looks like
Short, focused sessions
Students book one of your open slots and you meet for 20 minutes in the app's chat, with a timer both of you can see.
Answer evaluation
Students can attach an answer when they book, so you read it beforehand and send it back marked during the session.
Students you can help
Students are matched on stage, papers, the help they want and language, so the ones who book you are the ones you suit.
Your own schedule
You add slots when you're free. Nothing is booked outside them.
Ratings that are earned
Only students who really had a session with you can rate it.
Continuity
After a session, leave a short handover note so the student's next mentor can pick up where you left off.
You've written UPSC Mains
To mentor on Mented you need to have written at least one UPSC Civil Services Mains. Having faced the interview is a plus.
What matters is that you can help, and can show it. A Mains admit card or marksheet, an interview call letter or a service record makes your application much easier to approve.
Good to know
- It's voluntary for now; paid sessions are planned. Sessions are free for students while Mented grows.
- You need an Android phone. Sessions happen in the Mented Android app.
- Keep it on Mented. Moving students to phone calls or other apps ends a mentorship.

Frequently asked
Is this a paid UPSC mentor job?
Not yet. Mentoring is voluntary for now, while sessions are free for students and Mented grows. Paid sessions are planned.
Can I mentor part-time or from home?
Yes. It's entirely online, in the Mented Android app, and you only take sessions in slots you add yourself.
Do I need to have cleared the exam?
You don't need to have been selected, but you do need to have written at least one UPSC Mains. Having faced the interview is a plus. Say what you've done and attach proof, such as your Mains admit card or marksheet; the team reviews every application.
Can I mentor just my optional subject?
Yes. Pick the optional you wrote in the application, for example Sociology. Students asking for help with their optional only see mentors who wrote the same one.
Which languages can I mentor in?
English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia, Urdu. Choose every language you're comfortable in; students filter mentors by language.
Do I have to upload documents?
It isn't required, but it's strongly recommended. Without something to check, an application is judged on its wording alone. Documents are seen only by the Mented team.
What do students see about me?
The name you choose, your bio, expertise, subjects, languages and ratings. Never your mobile number, email or documents.
Can I apply from the app instead?
Yes. The Mentors tab in the app has the same application, and both end up in the same place.
I was turned down. Can I apply again?
Yes. Sign in here and you'll see the reason. Update your application and send it again.
